The Lüneburg Heath is a cultivated landscape in Lower Saxony. To prevent the heathland from becoming overgrown with trees, sheep are regularly allowed to graze the land. The sheep's wool is processed into felt. Wool felt - the oldest textile fabric in the world - is dirt and water repellent.
